How do I become a member of SAC?

There are many reasons why the SAC is so important, but the main reason is related to accountability and for working toward improving the school each and every year. Financial resources are provided to the SAC by the State of Florida for allocation to specific programs that enhance performance and a great deal of information is made available to all stakeholders who attend.

Are refreshments provided at the meetings?

In the Western High School family tradition, a variety of refreshments are served at our meetings for the pleasure and convenience of our members and guests. We strive to serve food for the health conscience and otherwise at each meeting.

According to the bylaws, more than two (2) consecutive absences by a member will jeopardize the members standing on the SAC, which may lead to removal and replacement.

What if there are multiple absences by any given member?

When a meeting is held, there must be a quorum of more than 50% of the members present. If that threshold is not attained, then there can only be discussions and information provided. No voting may take place and the meeting will be deemed an informal informational meeting only. It is essential that all members make an assertive effort to attend each meeting.
