OUR PROGRAMS

 

 

Western High School will be hosting a four-segment camp this summer for over 300 gifted and intellectually talented children.   Gifted students who are entering grades 3 through 8 for the 2024 - 2025 school year are eligible to apply. The cost of the camp will be $350 for all four 2-day segments (8 days in total).  Scholarships will be available for those that qualify based upon Free and Reduced Lunch criteria. Payment will be due at time of selection.

 

Western High School’s Summer Camp for the Gifted

June 13-14, 17-18, 20-21, and 24-25 (Four 2-Day Segments)

8:30a.m. - 3:30p.m. each day

 

We will also be offering a sports enrichment program each camp day from 3:30p.m. – 5:30p.m. for an additional fee of $35 per 2-day segment.

Brain Games, Strategy and Logic

Individual and team brain games and puzzles culminate in exciting tournaments.
 

Coding Craze

Learn who’s in charge: The computer or the coder?

Creative Writing

A multi-genre introduction to the craft of creative writing. Let your imagination take you away!

Fitness Fun

Just like you have to challenge your mind – you also have to challenge your body. Each day there will be fun physical activities such as Basketball, Capture the Flag, Dodge Ball, and much more.

Mystery Class

Every day students are exposed to a different fun activity that opens their eyes to new and exciting ways to make the world a better place through community service projects and recycling, to name a few.

STEM Exploration (Science and Math)

Guaranteed to pique our campers’ curiosity. Delightful discoveries await you!

Humanity Course Electives(Under Review)

(Students will be immersed in one throughout the camp experience)

Two weeks to learn, have fun, and be immersed in something we like to call “process made visual” in the creation of performing and visual arts masterpieces. Each camper will participate in one Humanities course from the list below. Please indicate your top 3 preferences on the application.

 

 

Art

 

 

Do you have a Picasso in you? Come join us for two weeks as we create masterpieces and learn to explore art through many different canvases.

 

Chess

Learn strategy and critical thinking skills as you master yours skills in Chess.

Debate

Learn the art of formal discussion on a particular topic that makes Western High School one of the top Debate schools in the nation.

​

Culinary Arts

Ever wanted to learn how to prepare a special dish?  Or perhaps you would like to fine-tune what you already know.  Spend two weeks working on fine culinary techniques and recipes to become famous in the kitchen.

Robotics

Students will recognize the important aspects of robotics – trial and error, testing, observation, theorizing, programming and building.

Theater

Are you the center of attention? Do you like to perform on and off the stage? If you answer yes to any of these question then Theater is for you.

 

Video Production

Become a director as you will create and direct a video. You learn everything from creating a storyboard to editing the final scenes.
